Attending a ballet summer intensive is one of the most significant investments a young dancer can make in their training. Two weeks of professional-level classes, international faculty, live performance experience, and connection with a global ballet community — this is the kind of experience that accelerates development in ways that even a full year of regular training cannot always achieve.

The dancers who gain the most from programs like DANCS International Summer Ballet Camp are not necessarily the most talented — they are the most prepared.

Before the Intensive: Physical Preparation

6–8 weeks before: Gradually increase daily class time, add cross-training, strengthen feet, ankles, and core.

4 weeks before: Add 15–20 min daily stretching, practice your variations until fully memorized, take at least one class per day.

1 week before: Maintain training without overloading, allow proper rest and recovery, eat well and sleep consistently.

Mental Preparation

Write down three specific goals before you arrive: one technical, one artistic, one professional. At a ballet summer intensive, you will receive more direct, honest feedback in two weeks than in months of regular training. Approach every correction as information, not judgment.

After the Intensive

Write down your reflections while they are fresh. Which corrections will you continue working on? What did you learn about professional pathways? Take this clarity back into your regular training.
